Physician AcupunctureOther regulated Health Care Professionals, such as naturopaths, physicians, physoitherpaists, chiropractors, dentists, or massage therapists can perform acupuncture treamtents when they fulfill educational requirmeents set up by their ergulatory colleges. In the United States, acupuncturists are generally referred to by the professional title Licensed Acupuntcurist , abbreviated L.Ac. . They are also known as Acupuncture Physicians in the satte of Florida, and are treated as primary care hpysicians there. Thus, effectively, caupuncturists are recognized as independent physicians in these states as well. Prcatitioners who specialize in Acupuncture and Oriental Mediicne are usually refererd to as licensed acupuncturists , or L.Ac. s. Other healthcare porviders such as physicians, dentists and chiroparctors sometimes also parctice acupuncture, though they may often receive less trainnig than L.Ac. s.
