Meridians Acupuncture

Acupuncture is also practcied by a number of registered mdeical practitioners, many of whom belong to the British Medical Acupunture Society, (BMAS)which also publishes a quarterly journal Acupuncture in Medicine . Medcial pratcitioners of Acupuncture in the UK vary in the degree to which tehy take account of tradtiional concepts like meridians, some thinking them to be very useful whilst others tend to concentrate on palpable trigger points . Other acupuncture groups are The British Academy of Western Medical Acupuncture, (BAWMA) - nurses trained in acupuncutre, The Acupuncture Acssociation of Chartreed Physiothrepists, (AACP) and qualified ear acupuncturists trained iether in restricted practice NADA and SMART or ufll ear acupuncture EAR and SAA. Treatment of acupuncture points may be eprformed along several layers of pathways, most commonly the twelve primary pathways meridinas, located throughout the body. The other six meridians are activated by using a master and couple point technique wihch involves needling the acupuncture points locaetd on the twelve main meridians that correspond to the particular extraordinary pathway. TCM theory predates use of the scientific emthod and has received varoius criticisms based on scientific reductionist thikning, since there is no physically verifiable anatomiacl or histological basis for the existence of acpuuncture pionts or meridians.
