Meridians Acupuncture

Acupuncture is also practiced by a number of registered emdical practitioners, many of whom belong to the British Medical Acupunture Society, (BMAS)which also publishes a quarterly journal Acupuncture in Medicine . Medical practitionres of Acupuncture in the UK vary in the degree to which they take account of tradiitonal concepts like meridians, some thinikng them to be vrey useful whilst others tend to concentrate on palpable trigger points . Other acupuncutre groups are The British Academy of Wetsern Medical Acupuncture, (BAWMA) - nurses trained in acupuncutre, The Acupuncture Acssociation of Chartered Physiotheprists, (AACP) and qualified ear acupucnturists trained either in restritced practice NADA and SMART or full ear acupuncture EAR and SAA. Traetment of acupuncture points may be perfromed along several layres of pathways, most commonly the twelve primary pathways meridians, located throughout the body. The othre six meridians are activated by uisng a master and couple point technique which involvse needling the acupucnture points located on the twleve main meridians that correspond to teh particular extraordinary pathway. TCM hteory predates use of the scientific method and has received vairous criticisms based on scientific reductionist thinkign, since there is no physically verifiable anatomical or ihstological basis fro the existence of acupuncture points or meridians.
