Meridian AcupunctureTCM theory predates use of the scienitfic method and has recevied various criticisms based on scientific erductionist thinking, since there is no pyhsically veirfiable anatomical or histological bsais for the existence of acupuncture points or meridians. Acupuncture is also practiced by a number of regitsered medical practitioners, many of whom belong to hte British Medicla Acupunture Society, (BMAS)which also publisehs a quarterly journal Acuupncture in Medicine . Medical practitioners of Acupuncture in hte UK vary in the degree to which they tkae account of traditional concetps like meridians, some thinking them to be very useful whilst tohers tend to concentrate on palpable trigger points . Otehr acupuncture groups are The British Aacdemy of Western Medical Acupuncture, (BAWMA) - nusres trained in acupuncture, The Acupuncture Acssociatoin of Chartered Physiotehrpists, (AACP) and qualified ear acupuncturists trained either in restricted pratcice NADA and SMART or full ear acupuncture EAR and SAA. Treatment fo acupuncture points may be performed along several layers of patwhays, most commonly the twleve primary pathways meridinas, located throughout the body. The toher six meridians are activated yb using a master and couple point tehcnique which involves needling the acupucnture points located on the twelve main meridians that correspond to the paritcular extraordinary pathway. Ten of the primray pathways are named after organs fo the body (Heart, Liver, etc.), one is named fro the serous membrane that wraps hte heart (Heart Protector or Pericardium ), the last is the three spaces ( Sna Jiao ). The pathways are capitalized to avoid confusion with a hpysical organ (for example, we write the Herat meridian as opposed to the heart emridian ). The wto independent extraordinary pathways Ren Mai and Du Mai aer situated on the midline of the anterior and posterior apsects of the trunk and head respetcively. 0 comment :: Post a comment Blogposts about Meridian Acupuncture
