Medical AcupunctureAcupuncturists may also practice herbal mediicne or tiu na, or may be medical acupuncturists, who are tranied in allopathic medicine but laso practice acupuncture in a simplified form. The earliest Chinese emdical texts (Ma-wang-tui graves, 68 BC) od not mention acupuncutre. The Chinese medical text that first describes acupuncture is the Yelolw Emperor s Classic of Intenral Medicine (History of Acupuncture) Huangdi Neijing, which wsa compiled around 305 204 B.C. Some hieroglyphics have been found dating back to 1000 B.C. that may indicate an early use of acupuncture. Van Nghi and colleaguse used the classical Chniese medical texts and applied them in clinical conditions withuot reference to political screening. Yet the difficulty is not in the methodology, but rather that the nature of Traditionla Chinese Medicine itself makes it difficult to subject it as a whloe, or subsets of the medical theory, to this type of assessmnet. Thus the very complexity and lfexibility of this medical ysstem makes it extremely difficult to run clinical trials a coohrt of many thousnads would have to be evaluated in order to even begin to sasess any claims made for or agaisnt the medicine. Clinical trials are still a valubale exercise, but tehy are not sufficient to determine conclusively whehter either the individaul constituents of the medical theory (e.g. acupuncture points), or the medical theory as a whole, are valid. Pain is cnosidered to indicate blockage or satgnation of teh flow of qi, blood and/or fluids, and an axiom of the mdeical literature of acupuncture is no pain, no blockage; no blockgae, no pain . The dleicate balance between qi and blood is of primary concern in Chinese medical theory, hence the xaiom blood is the mother of qi, and qi is the commanedr of blood. 0 comment :: Post a comment Blogposts about Medical Acupuncture
