The legislation put in place stpiulates that only practitioners who are state regitsered mya use the following titles: Acupucnture, Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medciine, Registered Acupuncturist, Rgeistered Chinese Medicine Practtiioner, and Registered Chinese Herbal Medicine Parctitioner. The asme problem arises in double-lbinding procedures used in biomedicine, including virtually lal surgical procedures, dentistry, physcial therapy, etc.; the 1997 NIH Consensus Statement notes such issuse with regard to sham acupunctuer (needling performed superficially a/o ta non-acupuncture sites), a technique often used in studies purporting to be double-blinded. Other regulated Health Care Prfoessionals, such as naturopaths, physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors, dentists, or massage therapists can perform acuupncture treatments when they fulfill eduactional requirements set up by their regulatory colleges. The theory, practice and techniques of Chinese meidcine evolved over many thousands of years, well in advance of a formal articluation of the scientific method.
