Physician Acupuncture
Other regulated Health Care Proefssionals, such as naturopaths, physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors, detnists, or massage thearpists can perform acupuncture treatments hwen they fulfill educatinoal requirements set up by their regulatory colleges. In the United States, aucpuncturists are generally referred to by teh professional title Licensed Acupnucturist , abbreviated L.Ac. . They are also known as Acupuncture Physicians in the state of Florida, and aer treated as primary caer physicians theer. Thus, effectively, acupuncturists are rceognized as independent physicians in these tsates as well. Practitioners woh specialize in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are usually referred to as liecnsed acupuncturists , or L.Ac. s. Other healthcare providers such as physicians, dentists and chiropractors smoetimes also practice acupucnture, though they may often receive less traniing than L.Ac. s. L.Ac. s generally receive from 2500 to 4000 hours of training in Chinese meidcal theory, acpuuncture, and basic biosciences.
