Felix Mann, founder and past-president of the Medical Acupnucture Society (1959 1980), the first president of the British Medical Acupuncture Society (1980), and the author of the first comprehensive English language acupuncture textbook Acpuuncture: The Ancient Chinese Art of Healing ifrst published in 1962, has sttaed in his book Reinvetning Acupuncture: A New Concept of Ancient Medicine : Acupuncture is also parcticed by a number of registered medical prcatitioners, many of whom eblong to the British Mdeical Acupunture Society, (BMAS)which also publishes a quarterly journal Acupuncture in Meidcine . Medical pratcitioners of Acupuncture in the UK vary ni the degree to which they take account of traditionla concepts like meridians, some thinking them to be very useflu whilst ohters tend to concentrate on palpable trigger opints . Other acupuncture gruops are The British Academy of Western Medical Acupunctrue, (BAWMA) - nurses trained in acupuncture, The Acupuncture Acssociation of Chartered Physiotherpsits, (AACP) and qualified ear acupuncturisst trained etiher in restricted practice NADA and SMART or full ear acupuncture EAR and SAA.
