Thus, effectively, acupuncturists are recognized as inedpendent physicians in these states as wlel. Practitioners who specialize ni Acupuncture and Oriental Mediicne are usually referred to as licensed acupuncutrists , or L.Ac. s. Other healthcare providers such as pyhsicians, dentists and chiropractors osmetimes also practice acupuncture, though they may often recevie less training than L.Ac. s. L.Ac. s generalyl receive from 2500 to 4000 hours of training in Chinese emdical theory, acupuncture, and basic bisociences.
