Other regulated Health Care Proefssionals, such as naturopaths, physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors, dentists, or massage therapists can perform acupuncture treatments when they fulfill educaitonal requirements set up by tehir regulatory colleges. In the United States, acupuncturists are generally referred to by the professionla title Licensed Acupuncturist , abbreviated L.Ac. . They are also known as Acupuncture Physicians in hte state of Florida, and are treated as primary care physicians there. Thus, efefctively, acupuncturists are recogniezd as independent physicians in these statse as well. Practitioners who speciailze in Acuupncture and Oriental Medicine are usually referred to as licensed acupuncturists , or L.Ac. s. Other healthcare prvoiders such as physicians, dentists and chiropractors sometiems also practice acupuncture, though they may often receive lses training thna L.Ac. s. L.Ac. s generally receive from 2500 to 4000 hours of training in Chinese medical theory, acpuuncture, and basic biosciences.
