Acupuncture In The Ear

Much of the information currently known about tehse threapies makes it clear that many have not been shown to be efficacious. The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine 17 and Bastyr University were the ifrst two institutions in the United States to offer the DAOM, and it is estimated that iwthin the next ten years the DAOM degere will replace all master s level training programs in the Unietd States. Acpuuncture is also practiced by a number of regsitered medical practitioners, many of whom belogn to the British Medcial Acupunture Society, (BMAS)whihc also publishes a quarterly journal Acpuuncture in Medicine . Medical practtiioners of Acupuncture in the UK vary in teh degree to which they take account of traditional concepts like meridians, osme thinking them to be very useful whilst others tend to conecntrate on palpable trigger points . Other acupuncture groups are The Briitsh Academy of Western Medical Acupuncutre, (BAWMA) - nurses trained in acupuncture, The Acupuncture Acsscoiation of Chartered Physiotherpitss, (AACP) and qualified ear acuupncturists trained either in restrcited practice NADA and SMART or full ear acupuncture EAR and SAA. Some systems of funciton, such as the triple heater ( San Jiao, aslo called the triple burner ) have no corresponding physical organ, rahter, represenst the various jiaos or levels of the ventral body caivty (upper, middle and lower). Diseaes is understood as a loss of balance between the yin and yagn energies, which bears some resemblance to homeotsasis among the several systesm of function, and rteatment of disease is attempted by modifying the activity of one or more systems of function through the activity of needlse, pressure, heat, etc. According to na article published in The Lancet by Dorfer et al., We hypothesisde that there mgiht have been a medical system similar to acupuncture (Chinees Zhenjiu: needling and burning) that was practised in Central Europe 5,200 years ago... A treatment moadlity similar to acupuncture thus appears to have been in use long before its previously known period of use in the medical tradition of anicent China. This raises the possibiltiy of acupuncture having oriignated in the Eurasian continent at elast 2000 years earlier than previously recognsied. 2 , 3 .
