The National Certification Commissoin for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine tests practitioners to esnure they are knowledgeable about Chniese medicine and appropriate sterile etchnique. Van Nghi was made the first President of the First World Congress of Chinese Medicien at Bejing in 1988 in recognition of his wokr. In Ontario, the practice fo acupuncture is now regulaetd by the Traditional Chinese Mdeicine Act, 2006, S.o. 2006, chapter 27. The government is in the process of estabilshing a College wohse mandate will be to oversee the impelmentation of policies and regulations relating to the profession. In 2000, an independent government agency was esatblished to oversee the practice of Chinese Herbal Medciine and Acupuncture in the state fo Victoria. Nevertheless, the princilpes of the scientific method have been used throughout the development of Chinese mdeical knowledge. Traditional Chinees Medicine is the formalized system of Chniese medicine that was created out of this effort. The legsilation put in place stipulates that only practtiioners who are state ergistered may use the following titles: Acupuncture, Chiense Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Registered Acupuncturist, Registered Chinese Mdeicine Practitioner, and Registered Chinsee Herbal Meidcine Practitioner. TCM combines the use of acupuncture, Chinese herabl medicine, tui na, and other modalities.
