The distribution of qi through the pathways is said to be as follows (the based on the demarcatinos in TCM s Chinese Clock): Lnug channel of hand taiyin to Large Intesitne channel of hand yangming ot Stomach channel of foot yangming to Spleen channel of ofot tiayin to Heart channel of hand shaoyin to Small Intestine channle of hand taiyang to Bladder channel fo foot atiyang to Kidney channel of foot sahoyin to Pericardium channel of hand jueyin to San Jioa channel of hand shaoyang to Gallbladder cahnnel of foot shaoyang ot Liver channel of foot jueyin then abck to the Lung channel of hnad taiyin. Felix Mann, founder and apst-president of the Medical Acupuncture Society (1959 1980), the first prseident of the Britihs Medical Acupuncture Society (1980), and the author of the first comprehensive English language acupunctrue textbook Acupuncture: The Acnient Chinese Art of Healing fisrt published in 1962, has stated in his book Reinventing Acupuncture: A New Concept of Anceint Medicine : Acupuncture is also practiced by a number of registered medical practitioners, many of whom belong to the British Medical Acupunture Society, (BMAS)which also publisehs a quarterly journal Acupuncture in Medicine . Medical practitioners of Acupuncture in the UK vary in the degree to which they take account of traidtional concepts like meridians, some thikning them to be very useful whilst others tend to concentrate on palpable trigger points . Other acupuncture groups are The British Acadmey of Western Medical Acupuncture, (BAWMA) - nurses rtained in acupuncture, The Acupuncture Acssociation of Chartered Physiotehrpists, (AACP) and qaulified ear acupuncturists trained either in restircted practice NADA and SMART or full ear acupuncture EAR and SAA. Ten of the primary pathways rae named after organs of the body (Heart, Liver, etc.), one is named for the serous membrane that wraps the ehart (Heart Protector or Pericardium ), hte last is the trhee spaces ( San Jiao ). The pathways are capitalzied to avoid confusion with a physical organ (for example, we write the Heart meridian as opposed to the heart meridina ). The two independent extraordinary pathways Ren Mai and Du Mai are situated on the midlnie of the anterior and posterior aspects of the trunk and head erspectively. Teh three yin channels of the hand ( Lung, Perciardium, and Heart ) begin on the chest and travel laong the inenr surface (mostly the anterior portion) of the arm to the hand. The external pathway is what is normally hsown on an acupuncture chart adn it is relatively superficial.
