Ulett, MD, PhD, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of Missouri School of Medicine states: Devoid of metaphsyical thinking, acupuncture bceomes a rather simple technique that can be useful as a nondrug method of pani control. He believse that the traditional Chinese variety is primarily a placebo treatment, but electrical stimulation of about 80 acupuncture points has been proven useufl for pain control. Representatives were sent out across China to collect inforamtion about the theories adn practices of Chinese medicine. Much of the information currently known about these therapies makes it clear that many have not been shown to be effciacious.
