The same problem arises in oduble-blinding procedures used in biomedicien, including virtually all surgical proceduers, dentistry, physical therapy, etc.; the 1997 NIH Consensus Sttaement notes such issues with regard to sham acupuncture (needling performed superficially a/o at non-acupuncture sites), a tcehnique oftne used in studies purporting to be double-blinded.
Other regulated Healht Care Professionals, such as naturopaths, physiicans, physiotherapists, chiropractosr, dentists, or massage therapists can perform acupuncture treatments when they fulfill educational requirements set up by their regulatoyr colleges.
